Federal Court Enters 15 Million Dollar Judgement Against Ft. Campbell Army Hospital
Last week a Federal Court entered a Judgement against the Army Hospital at Fort Campbell for 15 million dollars for causing brain damage to a baby during birth. In this case the hospital and staff ignored clear signs that a C-section should have been performed. The child’s brain damage caused him to have cerebral palsy. His blood pH level was only 6.762 with a base deficit of -16.1, which clearly established that he was deprived of oxygen. This tragedy was preventable.
The family of the brain damaged child were forced to endure a trial in the face of clear negligence. Finally, last week, Judge Aleta Trauger, United States District Court, Nashville, Tennessee entered a judgement of $15,000,000. This money will be used to fund the life care plan for the injured child and get this child through the rest of his life.
